Target Field to host the 2014 MLB All-Star Game?

(Star Tribune) – Speculation continues to build that the Twins will be hosts of the 2014 All-Star Game.

On Thursday night, USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reported via Twitter that the Mets will be the host of the 2013 All-Star Game, with the Twins getting the 2014 game.

A Twins spokesman declined comment, as team president Dave St. Peter and General Manager Terry Ryan traveled home on a late-night flight from the owner’s meetings in Phoenix.

The Twins have made a strong pitch to land the 2014 event, but Major League Baseball has made no announcements beyond this year’s All-Star Game, which will be in Kansas City.

Hopefully this is just the beginning of a long line of big sporting events that Minnesota hosts in the near future. I’d still much rather see the Winter Classic at Target Field or TCF Bank Stadium but this will do for now. Hopefully the Twins have their shit together by 2014 and will actually be able to send someone to the game. That is probably doubtful though seeing that Mauer will be on the DL and Morneau still doesn’t know who he is…but hey will still got Trevor Plouffe or Luke Hughes or Rene Tosoni or MATT CAPPS!!!
